Brecon Beacons to become Wales’ First International Dark Skies Reserve

Brecon Beacons Park Society and Brecon Beacons National Park Authority are calling on the help of local residents to help Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park become Wales’ FIRST International Dark Sky Reserve.

We all know that Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) has a stunning landscape – but what you don’t know is it also has some of the darkest skies in the UK.  The skies above Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park are so outstanding the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority, are applying to the International Dark-Sky Association to become Wales’ first International Dark Sky Reserve.

The highly prestigious status –given to only a handful of international destinations – would be beneficial  for both tourism and the local economy and preserve the region’s unique night skies for future generations.
