Challenge Brecon Beacons is an epic weekend awaiting those up for the challenge. Have the adventure of a lifetime trying the legendary must do big four adventure activities of the stunning Brecon Beacons! Try canoeing on the River Wye, climb Pen y Fan, negotiate the wild River Mellte white water rafting but without the raft otherwise known as canyoning and finish  off by going below caving where few people have gone before!

Definitely one for the ultimate bucket list!

This is your chance to try all the outstanding adventures in one condensed weekend! Canyoning, caving, summiting the famous Pen Y fan (highest mountain in southern Britain) and canoeing down the majestic River Wye. The highest peak in the Brecon Beacons National Park and highest in Britain south of Snowdonia, Pen y Fan rises to a height of 886m or 2906 feet above sea level. You’ll also have the opportunity of walking to the summit of its neighbouring peaks Corn Du (873m), Cribyn (795m) and Fan y Big (719m). With our experienced and friendly instructors you’ll try the BIG 4 adventures in one weekend.

Is It For You

You don’t have to be superhuman to try this weekend as it’s no triathlon! You just need to have a reasonable level of physical fitness as it will be challenging.

Sample Weekend Itinerary

Friday

Travel to Hay and arrive at the River Wye for the 5.5 mile canoe trip starting from the highest navigable point on the Wye, paddling in a northeasterly direction for 3 to 4 hour trip. On this section you will encounter migratory sand martins nesting in the clay riverbanks between March and October.

Overnight at hotel

Saturday

Today we’ll take on the mighty Pen y Fan, Corn Du and Cribyn. This will take us between 4 to 6 hours depending on the ability of the group and the prevailing weather conditions. We transport you to and from the hotel.

Overnight at hotel

Sunday

Another full on adventure taking part in our legendary canyoning activity followed by a trip to explore underground beneath the Brecon Beacons caving. We transport you to and from your hotel.

Depart late afternoon following the caving trip.

Activities

You can change these activities if they don't suit your requirements. For instance you can substitute quad biking with climbing, caving, paintballing or clay pigeon shooting to name but a few. Please note if you decide to change the choice of activities it may impact price and transport options.

Canoeing

Our canoeing sessions are based in South Wales, 25 minutes north of Swansea and 45 minutes west of Cardiff. We use a number of rivers, canals and lakes in the area. It is an fantastic way of viewing the Welsh countryside.We can also arrange canoeing trips to other parts of the UK for fun or training purposes.

Our staff ensure you will have a great day. The Brecon Beacons National Park has some fantastic caving, some of the best in the UK. Visit areas rarely seen by others in this awesome underground world. If you are visiting the area then caving is definitely an activity to experience.

Mountain Walks

You will be guided by our qualified instructors and can either just enjoy the scenery or pick up some mountain skills such as navigation and map reading. Most of the time you’ll be amazed by the stunning views as a new vista appears around every corner or over the next brow of the hill. Our mountain guides have extensive local knowledge so will be explaining about mans influence through the ages on the landscape, it geology and geography, flora and fauna.

Accommodation

These packages are based at a hotel conveniently located in a lively market town just off the M4 and on the main line out of London Paddington. It has good quality twin rooms with en-suite facilities. This hotel has a bar and a good restaurant. It is within walking distance of the train station and has its own car park. It is a popular venue for our groups. You are guaranteed a warm welcome as you will be met by our staff who will look after you during the activity break.

If you want to upgrade let us know. Alternatively you can choose our legendary Merlins which will help if your budget is tight.

Food

Breakfast and packed lunch included. No evening meal.

Transport

To and from activity venues. It’s difficult enough in an unfamiliar place to find a venue with a map or sat nav when you have a group of loud lads in the car. Therefore this option makes sense.
