What is Orienteering?

Orienteering requires some basic navigational skills using a map and compass to navigate from point to point and normally moving at speed.

Participants are given a map which they use to find control points. It is a type of treasure hunt on foot but this time in hills of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) or on the coast of the Gower. It can involve a race against the clock and other teams.

Who Can Enjoy the Orienteering Day?

Orienteering can be enjoyed by all ages. The day will be tailored to the age of the participants and the degree of difficulty changed. No previous experience is required and no prior map reading skills are needed.

Where Can I Try the Orienteering Day?

Call of the Wild’s orienteering will take place either in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) or on the coastline of the Gower, Swansea

Duration of the Orienteering Day?

Depends on the size and nature of the group. However as a guide it can last between 3 to 4 hours. This is an excellent group activity as you’ll be split into groups who’ll compete against each other.

This can get very competitive!

The price for a children’s group will differ from the price for an adult group.

What will I have to Wear for my Orienteering Day?

A full kit list will be issued upon booking however warm comfortable clothing and those appropriate to the season.

Good Combination of Activities

Orienteering can be combined with other activities for weekends or longer duration visits. It can be combined with any of the range of activities available whether it be canyoning, gorge walking, climbing, quad biking, paintball and clays.

Orienteering days are popular with our female groups particularly hen parties and birthday celebration groups.

Can I Use a Camera?

Yes you can.
