Heartbreaking article in “The Mirror” about a groom who has been forced to cancel his stag do in Las Vegas after his best man apparently spent the £8,000 budget.
Ben Whincup, 28, was left devastated after finding out his trip to the US was not happening a day before it was due to fly out. He said the unnamed family friend confessed to him in a phone call he had blown the money for the whole stag group.
Where It All Went Wrong
Mr Whincup said: ‘We had decided on the flights and the hotel on the strip where we would stay, and he just said he’d take care of it all. ‘We handed over more than £700 each and trusted him to deliver the dream trip. ‘In the weeks running up to the stag, we were all getting excited and there were no signs that anything was wrong.’ She said nine friends and family had been cheated out of their money after saving for a year, with one person travelling from New Zealand at a cost of over £2,000.
The Bad News
His mum added: ‘Last night we found out the that so called “friend” who had organised the trip has stolen all the funds and not booked anything. 3 family members had already travelled to London and one was mid flight from New Zealand. ‘We are gutted. The wedding is only 4 weeks away and today instead of flying off for the long awaited holiday they will be travelling back home / sitting at home wondering how this could happen.
Organising a Stag Party
In hindsight, it would’ve been easier for them to have booked with a company that has a reputation of hosting great stag parties and stag weekends that could take care of all the organising for them. This also opens up the options of having a range of different tried and tested activities throughout the weekend. See what some people had to say about our stag party weekends.
“Organisation and timing was perfect and the instructors were professional, confident and made us all feel safe. Super organisation, easy booking, pub hotel + staff were awesome. Canyoning challenging but fun, couldn’t have been better. Swansea was a great night out. Quad biking and archery just what the doctor ordered with a hangover. Thank you to you all.” M. Puddy.
“Firstly, I just want to say a massive thank you for sorting everything out for our weekend. It was unbelievable and was much better than we all expected. Everything was extremely well organised with no hassle at all. Thank you very much and I believe we will be in touch again just to take our partners so they can enjoy it as much as we did. Honestly it was incredible so thank you very much. Lots of amazing memories.” P. Power.
