Our Staff

Adventure Britain Staff

Our staff are famous for being friendly, hospitable, professional and above all good fun. They are all professionally trained to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable experience. For the delivery of activities instructors and facilitators will have the necessary National Governing Body qualifications, experience and people skills. For instance to enable them to instruct on a climbing session they will need the Single Pitch Award from the Mountain leader Training Board (MLTB). Below are examples of the kind of qualifications we require our staff to hold.

“Staff were very friendly and adapted their style towards different people. Some of the group were not so confident as others but the staff reassured them – Brilliant.” Tim Price

Examples of National Governing Body Qualifications

Single Pitch Award

The SPA is the only nationally recognised award of its kind. To supervise novices on single pitch crags and climbing walls instructors need more than just good personal climbing skills. By obtaining the SPA award instructors learn about safe group management, crag etiquette, environmental responsibilities and technical ropework. They learn how to become an effective supervisor, encouraging others to enjoy their climbing in a safe and responsible way, while improving your own climbing techniques. “The instructors/hosts were not only very professional in their approach but very entertaining and a big part of the weekend, which was excellent.” Mr.K.Armstrong

Technical Skills are Not Enough For Adventure Britain

You can be the best techinically gifted climber in the world as far as we are concerned but if you haven’t got good people skills then you don’t work for Call of the Wild. We realise that it is your event and it is you who want to get the maximum amount of enjoyment out of the activity experience as possible. It is the instructor’s job to ensure this happens.

“Griff your quad biking instructor is a legend. He made the day hilarious.”Nick Judd

Dave Thomas

A holder of the Mountain Instructor Certificate ( one of only a handful of people in Wales to hold this top qualification) and British Canoe Union Level 4 Inland Kayak Coach, Dave is one of the highest qualified and experienced instructors in the UK. He has travelled extensively in Scandinavia, Iceland, the European Alps, Corsica, Kenya, Tanzania, North and South America, Canada and Cyprus. Attempted six times previously by various nationalities the Island of Iceland was deemed uncrossable. Dragging sledges each weighing 240 pound the four-man team skied in arctic blizzard conditions for 47 days over 500 miles.

” Staff superb. I felt safe but challenged. They were excellent.” Ms A.Grose, Putney
