Visit Wales National Tourism Awards 2010

An Award Winning Year for Call of the Wild

It’s been a great year for Call of the Wild picking up a number of awards during the course of the 2010. We are in the unique position of being the current holder of the Welsh Small Business of the Year title in addition to being the current National Team Building Company of the Year. The the Company this have won another 4 awards.  Call of the Wild were chosen by a judging panel including Deborah Meaden and other leading entrepreneurs such as Bebo Founder Michael Birch as a winner of Smarta.com’s inaugural ‘Smarta 100’. Not only did Call of the Wild make the Top 100 Small Companies in the UK it was also voted in the Top 5 for its Business Ethics. The Smarta 100 is the ultimate business accolade, recognizing the UK’s smartest small businesses.

With the SMARTA 100 Business Ethics award it isn’t always about bulging bank balances. It recognises companies that are out there to make a positive impact on the world. They dedicate themselves to protecting our environment, helping people more vulnerable than themselves and rejuvenating communities starved of socio-economic opportunity. Deborah Meaden commented: “Discovering great new businesses is a passion of mine as is encouraging businesses to think and work better. The Smarta 100 does both of these things”

Hot on the heels of the SMARTA 100 awards came another two at the Leading Wales Awards 2010. Developed by a consortium of professional institutes, voluntary and public sector bodies as well as private companies, the awards seek to recognise and celebrate personal achievement in outstanding leadership and management in Wales.

Call of the Wild won the Business Leadership in the Community award and the Leading Management and Leadership Skills Development award. The only Company to win 2 awards at the ceremony.

In addition to the above we have now been shortlisted for two awards in the Visit Wales National Tourism Awards. We have been shortlisted in the Best Team and Best Company for Business Tourism Categories. The award winners will now be announced at the end of October.

Call of the Wild Managing Director Geraint Lewis said: “We are absolutely delighted. It illustrates that the Company is recognised as being one of the best in the UK. It is always reassuring to know that our ethical approach to business is recognised and the contribution made to the local economy is not underestimated.”
