Why Use the Natural Environment of the Brecon Beacons?

The outdoor environment is an alien and unfamiliar environment for many children. The adventure of the first visit to somewhere such as the Brecon Beacons is the same for every generation. Use of the natural environment through adventure activities can make a unique contribution to personal growth through sharing experience, improving self confidence, exploring personal beliefs, attitudes and values whilst living and learning with one’s peers. The unforgettable experiences gained by participants from Call of the Wild’s utilisation of the wonderful natural landscape of the Brecon Beacons National Park enables this personal growth through adventure to occur in a safe and secure setting.

“We had a fantastic time with you. Everyone – children and staff – came back exhilarated and keen to pursue the activities they had started to learn. As a veteran of many school camps, I can honestly say that you thought of, and took care of our every need – even quite personal ones! The activities were great, with the right level of challenge and many parents report that their children’s self-esteem has rocketed! The children themselves can’t stop talking about the trip, and ‘sawsome’ is now part of the class vocabulary!” Louise Bray, Burlsecombe School, September
